TAKE ACTION

Despite the unbelievable challenges and desperate attempts to disrupt and upend the 2020 election, election workers pulled off the most secure election in our history; and they did it amidst a global pandemic. Then, amidst ongoing threats and intimidation, they did it again in 2024. Rather than receiving a hero’s welcome, they have become the focus of an ongoing coordinated campaign of disinformation and attacks. With these films, our goal is to give voice to the experiences of this largely invisible yet completely indispensable workforce.

We hope you’ll join us to say #ThankYouElectionHeroes. Join business leaders, elected officials, nonprofits, and people from around the country in celebrating these heroes of our democracy on Election Hero Day.

Here are three ways you can get involved right now to support election officials:

Power the polls: Help staff your local polling location

In 2020, America faced a record shortage of poll workers, and over 700,000 people stepped up via Power the Polls to help address that challenge. That was just the beginning. Our democracy depends on ordinary people who make sure every election runs smoothly and everyone's vote is counted. You can make sure we have safe, fair, and efficient elections for all: step up and become a poll worker in your community this year. Visit Power the Polls to get involved.

Your local election officials should always be your first stop to find out what's happening in your city or town. However, there are many groups like Common Cause and the the League of Women Voters who are focused on voter rights and election integrity from the perspective of regular citizens. Sign up for their newsletters, volunteer with a local chapter, and invite friends to participate with you. You can find suggested organizations on our Resources Page.
